Interesting thing I learnt over the weekend

The possible causes of appendicitis are many, but no one really knows why it happens.
At some hospitals here, you need to queue for an available operating theatre.
It’s faster to operate if they suspect you have appendicitis then to send you for tests and wait for the results.
If they operate they take out your appendix whether or not you have appendicitis or not because:
1. They don’t want to confuse any doctors in future who sees the scar and expects the appendix to be gone and
2. In case it was a mild case which may recur in future.
Lastly, we can apparently get on fine without our appendix. Which leads me to ask, what else in our body do we not really need (besides all the extra fats in my case).
